A meeting of the Central Region Tribal Development Authority was held today in the Korba Collectorate Hall under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. Chief Minister Sai said that after the reorganization of the Central Region Tribal Development Authority, this first meeting today is being held with a new resolution and approach. He said that the government is taking all concrete steps for the welfare and overall development of the tribal community. There will be no shortage of resources for development works. Chief Minister Sai has announced to increase the budget amount of the authority from 50 crores to Rs 75 crore for better development of the Scheduled Tribes community living under the central region.
Chief Minister Sai said that the Chhattisgarh government has taken strong steps towards inclusive development by constituting Bastar, Surguja and Central Region Tribal Development Authorities as well as Scheduled Caste Development Authority and Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Development Authorities. He has said that the purpose of these authorities is to speed up development works in tribal areas, ensure transparency and bring public facilities to every village, every family. Due to the poor functioning of the former government, there was a lack of transparency and accountability in the functions of the authorities. Due to lack of monitoring, many schemes could not land on the ground. Our government has restructured the authorities to change this situation.
Member number increased in authority
The number of members has been increased to further comprehensive public representatives in the authority. Now Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha MP, District Panchayat President and other important public representatives of the Authority area have been made its members. In addition, it has been decided to nominate the two social workers and experts working in the field of tribal development so that the development plans can get the benefit of their experience and expertise.
PM Janman Yojana opened new possibilities
Chief Minister Sai said that the government is giving special emphasis on implementing special schemes for tribal communities in the fields of education, health and livelihood. The land started under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the tribal village Utkarsh Abhiyan and PM Janman Yojana have revealed new possibilities of development in the tribal areas of Chhattisgarh. Under these schemes, infrastructure like housing, road, electricity, water and digital connectivity is being developed rapidly. Chief Minister Sai said that emphasis is being laid on further strengthening self-help groups for the empowerment of tribal women in the central region. Through these groups, initiative will be taken to connect women with skill training, loan facilities and markets so that they can become self -sufficient. Technical and vocational training for the youth of the central region will be prepared for employment and self-employment.
Work towards preserving tribal culture
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that the tribal culture of Chhattisgarh is rich. We have to work towards preserving tribal culture and tradition. The authority will play the main role in the arrangements for nutrition, health, education etc. of children of special backward tribes. He has suggested to provide permanent pump connections for irrigation in the fields of farmers of farmers of special backward tribes to motivate people of tribal society to quit alcohol.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw said that Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai himself has come to Korba to meet the entire government. This meeting was not held after 30 November 2019. The Chief Minister himself is going to the scheduled area and meeting. This indicates their commitment. Authority vice -president Pranab Kumar Marpchi said that due to increasing budget amount, development works will increase in tribal dominated areas.
Education, sports, tourism and irrigation gift
Chief Minister Sai made special announcements to enhance the talent of tribal children and youth. He sanctioned Rs 10 crore for the construction and operation of the boys and girls in Korba. Similarly, to enhance the talent of the players of special backward tribes, two boys and girls announced Rs 10-10 crore for sports complexes. The Chief Minister also announced to sanction Rs 5 crore for setting up residential schools for students of special backward tribes.
Infrastructure and tourism
Chief Minister Sai announced Rs 9 crore for the construction of an important Sunaliya bridge to streamlute traffic in Korba city. To promote tourism, Buka-Satranga instructed the forest department officials to work fast on the tourism project. He instructed the forest department to report within 2 months. The Chief Minister said that Rs 2,800 crore has been sanctioned to complete 115 incomplete irrigation projects before 2015. On completion of these projects, irrigation facility will be available in about 76 thousand hectares of land.
Under the Central Region Tribal Authority, 544 development works worth Rs 32 crore 67 lakh were approved in the year 2021-22, out of which 539 works have been completed. Similarly, in the year 2022-23, out of a total of 491 sanctioned works of Rs 32 crore 72 lakh, 482 works were completed. In the year 2023-24, out of a total of 464 sanctioned works of Rs 32 crore 67 lakh, 424 works were completed. In the year 2024-25, out of a total of 508 sanctioned works of Rs 48 crore 28 lakh, 123 works have been completed and the remaining works are in progress. The Chief Minister has given instructions to complete all unfinished works quickly.
In the meeting, ministers Ramvichar Netam, Dayaldas Baghel, Kedar Kashyap, Lakhanlal Dewangan, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, O.P. Chaudhary, Tankaram Verma, Gajendra Yadav, Guru Khushwant Saheb, Rajesh Aggarwal, MP Lok Sabha, Santosh Pandey including MLAs, District Panchayat President and Members, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary Subodh Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Richa Sharma, Manoj Pingua, Authority Secretary Basavaraju, Secretary to Chief Minister P. Dayanand, Bilaspur Divisional Jain, IG, IG, IG, Principal Vanvas Raw, Collector V. Collector and Superintendent of Police Siddharth Tiwari and other administrative officers were present in other districts including Ajit Vasant.
