Flood havoc in Punjab as well as Pakistan of Pakistan continues to wreak havoc. Due to floods, the villages of the village have been submerged in water. The rescue team is campaigning with full force to save people, but casualties are increasing. An official on Sunday informed that five people have died after a boat carrying flood victims in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
The official said that the incident took place on Saturday evening at Jalalpur Pirwala in Multan district, about 350 km from Lahore. According to the official, the flood has caused huge destruction in Pakistan and since the end of June, more than 900 people have lost their lives in incidents related to rain and floods across the country.
Boat drowned with 30 people
Irfan Ali Kathia, director of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority of Punjab (PDMA), informed the media that when the boat in the rescue operations overturned due to the rapid flow of water, there were about 30 flood victims in it.
He told that a woman and four children drowned, while the rest were rescued. The official said that the flood victims did not wear a life safety jacket.
Punjab continued rescue operations
Irfan said, “Since the ongoing floods in Punjab on August 23, we have conducted more than 25 thousand successful boat rescue operations and this is the first unfortunate incident to overturn the boat.”
“Why all the flood victims being rescued on the respective boat are being investigated,” the official said.
Irfan said that government and private rescue boats should not sit more than the weight under any circumstances and they should have the necessary life safety jacket.
