The United Arab Emirates on Thursday announced a 17 -member team for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. Muhammad Wasim will command the team in the Asia Cup. More players present in the tri -series with Pakistan and Afghanistan have got a place in the squad. Among the new players, right -handed fast bowler Matiullah Khan and left -arm spinner Simranjit Singh have been added.
The Asia Cup 2025 will start from 9 September in Abu Dhabi. The UAE team is present in Group A. India, Oman and Pakistan are also in this group. The UAE team will play their match against India. The match will be played between India and UAE at Dubai International Stadium on 10 September.
The UAE will play from Oman at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on 15 September. His last group match will be with Pakistan at Dubai International Stadium on 17 September. The tournament will enter Super 4 after the group stage, where the top two teams from each group will qualify. The Super 4 stage will run from 20 to 26 September. The final will be played in Dubai, which is to be held on 28 September.
Matillah has played one ODI and five T20 Internationals and his last match was in the Pearl of Africa series against Nigeria in July. Simranjeet has represented the UAE in five ODIs and 11 T20 Internationals and recently played the Gulf T20 International Championship in December 2023. This will be the UAE’s first Asia Cup since 2016.
