Before the Asia Cup 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suffered a major setback. Dream 11 (Dream11) has informed the BCCI that it will no longer sponsor the Indian cricket team. Parliament has recently passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025. Under this bill, Rium Money Gaming has been banned in India, due to which the business of Dream 11 has been badly affected.
According to the report, the representatives of Dream 11 came to the BCCI office in Mumbai and informed CEO Hemang Amin about this decision. Now the BCCI will soon issue a new tender. The Asia Cup 2025 is to begin on 9 September in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Now after the removal of Dream 11, BCCI will have to find a new sponsor soon.
The BCCI official told this English newspaper, ‘Representatives of Dream 11 visited the BCCI office. He informed CEO Hemang Amin that Dream 11 is now unable to continue this deal further. Due to this, he will not be the sponsor of the Indian team for the Asia Cup. The BCCI will soon issue a new tender.
How much was the deal done in Dream 11?
Dream 11 made a huge deal of Rs 358 crore with BCCI in the weaver 2023. Under this, Dream 11 had achieved sponsor rights for the Indian women’s team, Indian Mains Team, India Under-19 team and India-A team kit. Then Dream 11 replaced Byju’s.
Despite breaking the contract, Dream 11 will not have to pay any penalty. It is clearly written in the contract that if the new law of the Government of India affects the main business of the company, then the company will not give any penalty to the board. Dream 11 started 18 years ago and today its value is about 8 billion dollars.
Dream 11 also invested a large inserts in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It made players like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Jaspreet Bumrah as brand ambassadors. In the year 2020, Dream 11 also sponsored the IPL Trophy. Dream 11 is the official fantasy partner of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). It has also been the title sponsor of the super smash to be held in New Zealand. It has also been associated with Australia’s Big Bash League (both women and men).
