At present, air pollution has become a serious problem, due to which many diseases related to the respiratory system are facing. In such a situation, the use of Ayurvedic medicines can be helpful in relieving these diseases. Students of Ashtanga Ayurvedic College of Indore have found in a research that the ill -effects of air pollution can be reduced by the incense of 11 drugs.
Student Himani Soni mentioned 11 medicines
This research has been conducted under the Spark (Studentship Program for Ayurveda Research Cane) of the Central Ayurvedic Science Research Council. In this, the research of two college students has been selected. Himani Soni, a third year student, researched the methods mentioned by Acharya Sushruta. Himani said that Acharya Sushruta has mentioned 11 drugs in two verses.
Research attempted to find out why these drugs were included thousands of years ago. Research made it clear that these drugs are anthelmintic and poisonous. If there are microbes or poison in the air, then these drugs destroy them. Adding this research in today’s context, it was said that consumption of polluted air has a negative effect on the langs.
When these drugs are performed incense (an Ayurvedic medicine process), it fights with external pollution as well as micro-organisms entering our body. This includes medicines such as Laksha, Turmeric, Atis, Haritaki, Nagarmotha, Harenu, Ella, Tejpat, Curve, Leprosy and Priyangu.
In the research, some individuals were given incense for 15 minutes for a month, increasing their breath holding capacity. This proves that we can take pure air in place of polluted air and we can also do this process in our home room.
Research on the causes of genetic diabetes
On the other hand, the college’s second year student Anshika Tomar researched the reasons for genetic diabetes. Anshika said that seven nature is considered to be the cause of genetic diabetes in Ayurveda. Research found that type 2 diabetes is a normal lifestyle disorder, causing improper diet, metabolic disturbances, hormone imbalances, mental stress and genetic factor.
These reasons can be diagnosed through Panchak. In Ayurveda, it is said by the Acharyas that a balanced diet and lifestyle is very important for maintaining health and prevention of diseases. In research, it was also known that the people who follow the diet according to their nature reduce the possibility of diabetes. This proves that the nature may be stable, but the possibility of diseases can be reduced by improving lifestyle.
300 students across the country were selected
These researches will now be worked at the national level, which will benefit patients suffering from large number of diseases. Under the Central Spark Scheme, about 300 students from across the country have been selected for research, who will be given an incentive amount of Rs 50,000. Thousands of students from 539 Ayurvedic colleges across the country sent the topics of research and they were given two months to complete the research.
Officials said that the Spark Scheme was launched in the year 2022 by the Central Ayurvedic Science Research Council to promote the interest of research in the students studying Ayurveda. In this, students are also trained for research.
