A case of cyber fraud has come to light from Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Senior professor posted in Raipur Government Engineer College here became a victim of digital arrest. During this, the professor gave 88 lakh rupees to the thugs within 26 days. The thugs threatened the professor and grabbed a huge amount from his bank account by showing fear of serious allegations like human trafficking and money laundering. The professor has complained to the police. The police is investigating the matter.

According to the police, cyber criminals often cheat people by scaring people through fake calls and video calls and this matter is also the same. Police said that 62 -year -old Santosh Karmakar, who lives in Old Basti area, is a professor in Government Engineer College. On June 20, cyber thugs targeted Professor Santosh Kumar through phone and WhatsApp calls. The thugs described themselves as an officer of the Bengaluru Police and lured them that their Aadhaar cards were used in illegal activities. After this, he cheated 88 lakh rupees from bank accounts by showing false fear of getting digital arrest.

Police had suspicion, but did not understand professor

Initially, the police saw the professor’s transaction during an investigation into a case of cheating. After this, the police took out the information and approached the professor and went to their home. During this time, the police asked him if he is a victim of cyber crime, then the professor accepted it. After this, the police told about the pattern and rescue of their cyber crime. At the same time, the police asked to complain about something like this, but the professor was so scared at that time that he did not tell the police anything and hid the matter of the crime happening to them. However, when he realized the fraud, he lodged a complaint with the old Basti police station. The police have registered a case under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act and is investigating the bank accounts and call details of the thugs.

107 crores cheated in 18 months

The Chhattisgarh government has made special cyber cells in view of the increasing case of cyber fraud. These cyber cells are working to freeze suspicious accounts and catch thugs. The police have appealed to the people not to trust unknown calls. On the information of such a case, immediately call 1930 and file a complaint. In the last 18 months in the state of Chhattisgarh, there have been cases of cyber fraud of more than Rs 107 crore.
