High court strict on the plight of bilaspur-raiipur NH, summoned reply in three weeks


Bilaspur The National Highway (NH) connecting the capital of Chhattisgarh, Raipur and Jurisdhan Bilaspur, is in a bad state. Taking a tough stand on this, the High Court ordered the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) project manager to appear in the court and give clarification.

Strict hearing held in court

In the hearing held on Tuesday, the Project Manager (Bilaspur-RRIPUR NH) arrived in court personally. The Division Bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha gave clear instructions that within three weeks, they have to give an affidavit and tell how long the repair of NH will be completed.

Earlier on Monday, the court made strict remarks and said that the plight of the important highway is not acceptable.

Why is Bilaspur-Raipur highway important?

This road connects the state capital Raipur and Nyaya Bilaspur. Apart from this, people of Bastar, Surguja and Raipur divisions also come and go through this route. Despite such importance, the situation of the highway is very bad and there is a lot of negligence in maintenance.

What did the High Court say?

The court questioned NHAI’s lawyer that you must have gone to Raipur yourself, have you seen the condition of the road? The court also said that what is done some maintenance is also contrary to standards. Stoppers on the road are lying random and unclaimed, which are causing accidents.

What next?

The High Court has clarified that within three weeks, the affidavit will have to be submitted and how long the highway will be improved. If work is not done on time, strict action will be taken.
