The security agencies of Madhya Pradesh have got a big success. Madhya Pradesh ATS has arrested an Afghan citizen Sohbat Khan from Omati area of Jabalpur city, who had been living in India for the last decade with fake documents. It is being told that Sohbat Khan illegally entered India in the year 2015 and stopped in West Bengal and then came to Jabalpur via Bhopal. After coming to Jabalpur, he not only looked for a job to show himself an Indian citizen, but also married a local woman. He had been living in Omati area for a long time and the documents recovered from him include fake Aadhaar cards, driving licenses and passports.

According to ATS sources, he got a driving license from Jabalpur in the year 2015 and got a passport in the year 2020. For this, he uploaded the fake address of Jabalpur by changing the address in the Aadhaar card. The investigation has also revealed that he also helped to get passports of two other Afghan citizens of West Bengal Akbar and Iqbal, whose address was mentioned in Jabalpur. It was revealed in the inquiry that Sohbat Khan used to take the help of local agents to make Indian documents and paid huge amount in return.

Two other local citizens also arrested

According to preliminary information, there has been a transaction of about 10 lakh rupees for making passports and other identity cards. The ATS has also arrested two other local persons involved in this network, one of the Vijay Nagar resident forest guards Dinesh Garg, who is currently posted in the Collectorate’s election cell. The second accused Mahendra Kumar is a resident of Katanga area who was playing the role of assistant in the fake process of documents.

The investigating agency has also found clues that other partners of Sohbat Khan are active in different parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. At present, there is a thorough investigation of the documents related to them. The ATS suspects that Sohbat Khan tried to get an Indian passport for Afghan citizens at the passport office in Jabalpur and for this he was repeatedly traveling to the office. Also, he paid many locals in this process and paid cash.

Sources also claim that at present, more than 20 Afghan youth are living secretly in many districts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, whose identity and activities are being investigated by ATS. The revelation of this gang, which challenged the country’s security system with the help of fake identity and documents, is considered to be a great success of ATS. After interrogation and investigation, more names are likely to be revealed.
