Temple of Takshak Nag (Takha Ji Maharaj)
Chhatgaon is located about 16 km from Shajapur in Madhya Pradesh. There is a temple of Takshak Nag (Takha Ji Maharaj) here. This temple is not only the center of faith of the devotees, but also attracts people due to its mysterious and miraculous events. This temple, about 1000 years old, is still associated with the deep reverence and devotion of the villagers.
The huge banyan tree located in the temple premises is the main symbol of this faith. This tree is spread over about 2 bighas of land, which has spread to the roof and walls of the temple. It seems as if the serpent gods themselves are contained in these jatas. The priest of the temple says that each of the banyan has a divine energy.
There is also a belief related to the temple that no one can pick up dry wood from here. Pujari said that according to the ancestors, once someone had raised dry wood from there, he became blind. As soon as he kept the wood back, his eyesight returned. After this incident, people have become even more aware of the sanctity of the temple.
Arvind Rajput, a resident of the village itself, says that Takha Ji Maharaj has amazing divinity. Many times he has also appeared as a white snake, while referring to a miraculous incident, a villager named Arjun Singh said that when a cow of the village went to Banyan years ago, his milk started flowing on his own. It was only after this unique incident that the villagers started worshiping this place as divine.
A seven -day special yagna is organized in the temple every year on Ganga Dashami. During this time, devotees from far and wide come here to visit and participate in Bhandare. There is also special worship on Nagpanchami. The devotees who come here believe that Takha Ji Maharaj fulfills every wish of them. The atmosphere of the temple is very calm, holy and full of spiritual energy.
