An interesting incident occurred on the last day of the fourth Test between India and England. England captain Ben Stokes wanted to stop the game to draw the match, but Indian batsmen Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar did not agree. On this decision, Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill supported both the players.

In the press conference after the match, Gautam Gambhir said, “If any England batsman had been on 90 runs, would he have left the field? Would he not be entitled to his century?” He made it clear that the players have the right to complete their personal milestone.

Captain Shubman Gill also reiterated the same thing. He said that both Jadeja and Sundar were beyond 90, so they were entitled to score a century.

Earlier, when Jadeja refused to play for a draw on the field, Ben Stokes jokingly asked, “Do you want to score a century against Harry Brook?” Jadeja responded to this and said, “I can’t do anything.”

Stokes said after the match that as soon as the draw was fixed, they did not want to tired their bowlers much before the next Test. So he put Harry Brook on bowling. In this over, Jadeja completed his third Test century by hitting a six off Brook’s ball.
