Jagdeep Dhankhar has resigned from the post of Vice President. After this, the stir for the election of the Vice President has intensified. Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said on Wednesday that the India alliance will take a decision collectively for the upcoming Vice Presidential elections.

The Election Commission of India had earlier announced that it had started preparations related to the Vice Presidential election of 2025. On completion of preparation activities, elections will be announced for the post of Vice President of India.

How will the candidate decide?

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has resigned on Monday evening citing health reasons. After the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, Kharge said on Wednesday, we will call a meeting of India Group parties and will take a collective decision on what to do for the Vice Presidential election.

Kharge further said that to reach any decision, it is necessary to talk to all parties and this alliance will work together on issues inside and outside the Parliament.

Kharge raised questions on resignation

Mallikarjun Kharge had earlier questioned the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar. He had said, the government should answer why Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned. I see something black in the lentils. His health is fine. He always defended the RSS and BJP. The country should know who and what is behind his resignation.

On what basis will the candidate be decided?

A section of Congress leaders indicated that the India alliance will decide its candidate for the Vice President on the basis of many things. Also, before fielding the candidate, he will also see who has fielded the NDA.

In the last Vice Presidential election of 2022, the Congress -led opposition fielded former Union Minister Margaret Alva against Dhankhar. After this, when more than 30 parties joined hands to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2023 next year, India block came into existence.

Jagdeep Dhankhar resigns

Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President on Monday. He cited health reasons behind resignation. After his sudden resignation, the movement in the political corridors has intensified. Writing a letter to President Draupadi Murmu, Jagdeep Dhankhar said that according to Article 67 (A) of the Constitution, I resign from the post of Vice President of India with immediate effect.

He further said that I have learned a lot during my tenure. The warmth, trust and affection I have received from all the members of Parliament will always be with me. The Prime Minister’s cooperation and support has been priceless.
