This year the rain has caused havoc in South Korea. The country’s Ministry of Internal and Safety said on Monday that floods and landslides had arisen due to torrential rains and at least 18 people have died. However, on Monday, there is relief from heavy rains in South Korea. The ministry said that nine people are missing till Sunday evening and the residents of the most affected areas are in shock.
Some residents in Gapyong located in Gapyong, located about 62 km north-east from the capital Seoul, spoke of narrowly escaped from the floods after 173 mm (6.8 in) rains in just 17 hours on Sunday. Gapyong is one of the places where a record amount of rainfall occurred in a single day and it broke the record of the highest volume of 30 September 1998.

Bhusakhal died, vehicles swept away in flood…
A citizen living here told the news agency Reuters, “The ground collapsed under me and the water came to my neck. Fortunately, there was an iron pipe nearby, I kept it with full force.” The ministry said that till Sunday, two people died due to landslide around Gapyong and four people went missing and vehicles were washed away due to floods. The floods after the rain have ruined the people living here and they are now worried about their future.
How much damage caused by rain
The internal ministry informed that 1,999 public structures and 2,238 private facilities have been damaged due to rain in the country, including farms. Although the rain has reduced, the National Meteorological Agency has now issued a warning of the nationwide heat.
