In the Judge Cash scandal case, the government is preparing to bring impeachment motion against Justice Yashwant Verma and Justice Verma has reached the Supreme Court. Justice Yashwant Verma has challenged the Inquiry Report in the apex court. In fact, on 14 March 2025, after the fire incident of Justice Verma’s house, cash worth crores was received.
Following the incident, the then CJI Sanjeev Khanna constituted a three -member Central Innouse Investigation Committee on 22 March, which included the Chief Justice of the Punjabhariana, Himachal and Karnataka High Court. The cash found in the report of the inquiry committee belonged to Justice Verma and his family and he did not say its source. After this, the inquiry committee recommended impeachment, which the central government has taken seriously. After this cash scandal, Justice Verma was transferred from the Delhi High Court to Allahabad High Court.

The committee also advised him to resign. But they refused. They would be equal to bowing in front of injustice. At the same time, when the government has prepared to bring impeachment motion against Justice Verma, he has moved the Supreme Court and challenged the Inquiry Report in the Supreme Court.
Justice Verma argues that the inquiry committee did not give him enough opportunity to listen. If the Supreme Court accepts this aspect, then questions will be raised on the statutory validity of the report. Verma alleged that he was not even given the opportunity to hear, stating the report. He said that the storeroom was a general use allotted room and he had no control over it.
If the Supreme Court justifies the investigation report, the impeachment process can move forward in Parliament.
Crores of rupees were found in Justice Verma’s house
In fact, on March 14, on the night of Holi, there was a fire in Justice Verma’s government bungalow at around 11.35 pm. Justice Verma and his wife were out of Delhi on the day of the incident. His family called the fire brigade to extinguish the fire. A large number of police forces came to extinguish the fire. During this time, a large amount of notes were allegedly found there. It is said that an entire room was found full of notes.
