The rate of use of accessible toilets in Bhopal increased, Opposition tightened up- ‘Food cheaper, toilet expensive’

On the one hand, Bhopal has received the second place award in the cleanest cities of the country, on the other hand the general public has to loose pockets in the name of cleanliness. Recently, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation has increased the use fee of accessible toilets from Rs 6 to Rs 10. Whether it is bathing or defecation, now citizens will have to pay 10-10 rupees.

The number of public toilets in Bhopal is about 43% less than the need of the city. In such a situation, increasing the fee is becoming a cause of problems for common citizens.

‘Food cheaper toilet expensive’

In fact, under the Deendayal Antyodaya Rasoi scheme of the state government, food is provided to the poor for 5 rupees, but now the toilet will have to be paid double the cost. This is why people are satirizing – “Filling stomachs is to empty the expensive stomach”

This decision was taken in the Mayor-in-Course meeting of Bhopal Municipal Corporation, which was chaired by Mayor Malti Rai. The Urban Administration and Development Department (UADD) has instructed all municipal bodies to increase their own income, and this decision has been taken in this direction.

Opposition attacker

There is resentment among local citizens since the increase in public toilets. At the same time, the Congress party has accused the state government of corruption in basic facilities, calling this move an injury to the rights of the poor. Congress councilor Yogendra Singh Guddu Chauhan said that it will raise this issue in the meeting of the council, it is a government robbery on the pockets of the poor. People will be upset with inflation and will go for open defecation and then Bhopal will fall behind in cleanliness.
