The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) has expressed displeasure over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on the recent foreign tour by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday that the comments made by a “high government official” on “India’s relations with the allied countries of the global South” were “irresponsible and regrettable” and said that she did not suit the government official.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal did not name the “High Government Officer”, but the statement came after making a sarcastic remarks by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India from five countries, in which he questioned the importance of his visits to low -populated countries.

Bhagwant Mann taunted PM Modi’s recent tour on Thursday. CM Mann questioned Prime Minister Modi’s relevance of visits to countries with small population and compared them to the large population of India.

Prime Minister Modi recently completed his longest foreign trip to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia from 2 to 9 July, his longest foreign trip to five countries.
During his five countries visit, Prime Minister Modi attended the BRICS summit at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and held bilateral talks with President Louis Inecio Lula Da Silva, focusing on defense cooperation, renewable energy and digital public infrastructure.
Prime Minister Modi was awarded Brazil’s highest civilian honor, “Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross”. Even in Ghana, the Prime Minister was awarded the country’s highest civilian honor, “Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana”.
