The rains continue in the state. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Bilaspur, Durg and Raipur divisions for the next two days. Along with this, waterlogging has started in many districts including the capital Raipur. Many areas of the state recorded good rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Churia and Rajim received the highest 110 mm rainfall, while Malkharoda recorded 100 mm and 9 cm of rain in Andhi, Mohla and Ambagarh posts. About two dozen places including Raipur, Durg, Mandir Gahud, Daundi and Ahiwara received 80 mm of rain.

Bilaspur, Katghora, Bhanupratappur, Pendra and Kurud recorded 60 mm or less rain at many other places. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas of Durg, Raipur and Bilaspur divisions.

Heavy drop in temperature

The sky was surrounded by clouds throughout the day in the capital. While the maximum temperature was reduced to 25 degrees, the minimum temperature remained around 22 degrees. On July 9, there is a possibility of light to moderate rains and thunderstorms at some places with thunderstorms.

The system is active

According to meteorologists, the low pressure area in Gangetic West Bengal is spread as a cyclical circulation up to 7.6 km height, which is slowly moving towards North Chhattisgarh via Jharkhand. Along with this, Dronika of monsoon extends to the Bay of Bengal via Bhatinda, Meerut, Varanasi. At the same time, from the Arabian Sea to Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh and Odisha, an upper air is active.

Extreme rain district

Balrampur in northern Chhattisgarh has recorded 449.5 mm of rainfall, which is 115 percent more than normal. Rainfall in districts like Janjgir, Mohla-Manpur-Chouki, Raigad was more than 70 percent of the normal, which created a situation of ‘large access’ there.

At the same time, rain was almost normal in districts like Dhamtari, Gorela-Pendra, Kanker, Mahasamund, Narayanpur, Raipur.

Late rain affected districts

While there is a situation of heavy rains in most areas of the state, there are many areas where the rain has reduced considerably. In Bemetara, Durg, Rajnandgaon and Sukma districts of the state, the rainfall was 22 to 46 percent less than the average. It can have an adverse effect on agriculture.
