CM Mohan Yadav said-Get 20 percent cheap electricity by installing a smart meter


Chief Minister (CM) Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that electricity is needed. Providing electricity to everyone as per need is the top priority of the government. Electricity should be available at cheaper rates. He said that smart meters model is best, so smart meters should be installed in everyone’s homes in the interest of electricity consumers. This will provide electricity to consumers at a cheaper rate.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was addressing a review meeting of the works of Energy Department at Samvat Bhawan at Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday. Referring to the benefits of consumers from installing smart meters, the Chief Minister said that in this, the consumer also gets the facility to minimize the amount of his electricity bill by using the energy at its convenience by assessing his own consumption. He instructed the officials of the Department of Energy to intensify the speed of installing smart meters. It was told that 1.34 crore domestic smart meters are to be installed in the state. So far more than 21 lakh domestic smart meters have been installed against the target.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, while discussing the electrical barriers at various places in May-June, said that maintenance activities should be conducted throughout the year for uninterrupted power supply to the power consumers, so that the power supply is not interrupted due to thunderstorms, water or any other incident. He said that new measures should be taken with new approach in maintenance activities. New equipment should be purchased. Where there are dense trees, get coating in electrical wires passing under them. Line the power/line losses minimize and implement all the ways of energy saving seriously.

Inspire for the use of solar energy

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the use of electricity is increasing everywhere domestic or industrial. Therefore domestic and industrial institutions should be encouraged to use solar power. With this, the consumer will also be able to sell additional electricity by generating his own electricity. He said that electricity use in agriculture sector should also be shifted to pumps powered by solar power. The Chief Minister said that a departmental policy should be prepared for the establishment of transformer repairing unit in all the districts of the state. He said that the Department of Energy and Renewable Energy should make efforts to provide the most benefits to electricity consumers.

Bring power companies in profit in two years

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that in the next two years, all three power distribution companies should come into the state of profit, so that power companies should try to increase their means of income. Use new technology, innovate, so that the company as well as consumers benefits.

There should be adequate power supply in the rabi season

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that ensure the availability of adequate electricity for Rabi 2025-26. Start preparations for this from now. It was informed in the meeting that about 20200 MW power demand is likely in the Rabi season. Last year, this demand was 18 thousand 913 MW.

One time settlement scheme

Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar said that one time settlement scheme is being started by the department to resolve the outstanding amount of electricity bill. Consumers of all domestic, industrial and commercial categories have been given the facility to deposit the outstanding amount by giving exemption in their original electricity bill amount. This scheme will be implemented for a period of six months. Even after this period, the electrical connection of consumers who do not pay electricity bills will be dissected. He also discussed the new setup of power distribution companies. Tomar thanked the Chief Minister for the approval of various proposals of the Department of Energy.

Additional Chief Secretary Energy Mandloi said that in the major indices of energy compared to other states (in collection efficiency), Madhya Pradesh is at number one in the country. 97.92 percent collection capacity has been achieved in the state. He informed that the department has set its targets for the current financial year as well as the next three years. He informed that by the year 2026-27, the Department of Energy is trying to reduce the electricity rate tariff. He informed that during this time the department is trying to reduce bill efficiency 90 percent, storage efficiency 99 percent and AT and C loss by 14 percent.

Target to electrify 100 percent

In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Energy said that the department has targeted to electrify 100 percent of the houses of 29 thousand 290 families of Special Backward Tribal Group (PM Jan-Mana) by the department. So far, the houses of more than 21 thousand PVTG families have been electrified in the current financial year. He informed that in the Earth Aba Tribal Village Utkarsh Abhiyan, the department has plans to electricity the houses of 55 thousand 795 families of the Scheduled Tribes of the state 100 percent. This goal will be achieved in this financial year.

Electricity police station in six metros

Additional Chief Secretary informed that energy police structure will be established in the state. In the first phase, one (six) special power police stations will be established in six metros of the state. These police stations will be established in all district headquarters in the coming years. These police stations will provide security to checking squads during the checking operation.

Will do surprise inspections and will also prepare a case diary. Under the Electricity Act, they will register an FIR against the accused and will also observe the court proceedings so that they will take action under the arrears of recovery Act for the security of the property of Discom and recovery of the dues. He informed that physical verification of the use of electricity in the agricultural sector will also be done for this, for this, distribution companies have been directed.

Government offices will be pre-paid meters

It was informed in the meeting that the work of installing pre-paid meters in government offices will start from August 15. This will not cause problems of pending electricity bills in government offices. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary of the Chief Minister’s Office, Dr. Rajesh Rajaura, Additional Chief Secretary New and renewable energy Manu Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Manish Rastogi, Managing Director MP Energy Development Corporation, all three power distribution company Ltd. CMD and other departmental officials were present.
