England won by five wickets in the first Test against India played in Leeds. Five centuries in the match for India were held. Yashasvi Jaiswal (101), Shubman Gill (147), KL Rahul (137) and Rishabh Pant (134, 118) played century innings but England opener Ben Docket’s century was heavy. Docket chased a target of 371 scored 149 runs in 170 balls thanks to 21 fours and a six. He (62) scored a half -century in the first innings. He won the Player of the Match (POTM) Award.
Docket said that the England got a lot of benefit from the cut of Jaspreet Bumrah in the second innings. Let me tell you that India’s fast bowler Bumrah took five wickets in the first innings of the Leeds Test but he could not hunt a single victim in the second innings. After winning the Player of Match award, Docket said, “Bumrah is a world class bowler. He performed brilliantly in the first innings. We are happy that he did not let it repeat in the second innings. I think we played him very well on the fifth and last day of the match.”

Playing on the fifth day and the way the game finished was incredible.” He further said, “Many times we lagged behind. However, the credit goes to our bowlers, who dismissed the tail batsmen of India very soon in both innings. If we did not do so, 50-60 runs could be added to the target. It could have been a completely different game. Both the teams were fantastic and the last day was very good.”
Docket took full advantage of Indian bowlers’ poor performance and loose fielding. Docket also received a life from Yashasvi Jaiswal off Mohammad Siraj. He shut down all the ways of India’s return to India by partnering 188 runs for the first wicket with Jack Croly (65). Indian bowlers gave 44 fours and three sixes in the second innings only. The first innings had 54 fours and five sixes.
