Washington
US President Donald Trump said that if there is going to be a major agreement between India and American. However, during this time he also said that Pakistani officials are also going on a visit to American for this. At the same time, Trump also said that if there is a military conflict between India and Pakistan, then America will not compromise with any of these two countries. Talking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews, Trump said, “Pakistan’s representatives are coming to America next week. We are very close to the agreement with India. But if these two countries fight, I will not be interested in any agreement.”
Trump said this on April 22 in the context of terrorist attacks in Pahgam, Jammu and Kashmir and ‘Operation Sindoor’ military action by India. Let me tell you that 26 people died in this attack. In response, India had a surgical strike at terrorist bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (Pojk). There were several rounds of military clashes between India and Pakistan using missiles, drones and fighter jets during this period, which have been considered the most serious in the last several decades.
Pakistan’s concern: heavy tariffs may be felt from America
According to the Reuters report, Pakistan is trying to trade a trade agreement with the US to avoid a potential 29% import duty (TARIFF) on it. The US had recently announced a new trade fee on several countries, in which Pakistan’s 3 billion dollar trade surplus is also being given a reason.
Agreement with India is ‘very close’
Trump also said that the US is very close to a limited trade agreement with India. He clarified that the basis of such an agreement would be peace and stability, not military conflicts. Meanwhile, US Deputy Foreign Secretary Christopher Landau described the Indo-US relations at the historic peak. He said after meeting with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Egypt in Washington that the relationship between the two countries is a very important partnership for the 21st century. He said, “We discussed issues such as fair and mutual trade, control over illegal immigration and collaboration on drug trafficking.”
Possibility of big agreement
Another report by Reuters claims that India may soon allow US companies to participate in government contracts worth more than $ 50 billion, which will further depth bilateral trade. Additionally, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal recently visited the US, where he insisted on advancing business talks. India is currently facing 26% fees on its exports to the US and this agreement may be an important step towards lightening that load.
