The investigation into Mumbai’s much -talked about sweet river scam is now getting deeper. After the name of Bollywood actor Dino Moriya surfaced in this scam, he appeared in the EOW (Economic Offenses Branch) office on Monday morning. If sources are to be believed, Moriya arrived at around 11 am to record the statement in front of the investigating officers.
Phone calls opened new secrets
The EOW investigation has so far made many shocking revelations. The latest update has revealed that there has been several conversation between Dino Moriya, her brother and the main accused in the scam Ketan Kadam. Recording and data of these calls are now on the radar of investigating agencies. Sources say that the information received through these calls can open the layers of the entire scam.
What is the sweet river scam?
The scam is associated with the purchase and sale of sluds used by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation in cleaning the sweet river. It is alleged that these machines were rented at high prices from Kochi’s company Matpopp Technical Services Private Limited and there was a huge financial disturbance in it.
Ketan Kadam and Jai Joshi have been described as the main accused in the case. Both of them are alleged to have scammed crores of rupees in collusion with the officials of the Matpop Company and the Storm Water Drains Department of BMC.
Question on the role of Dino Moriya
Investigations have also revealed that the role of Dino Moriya and her brother was not limited to just one friendship. Some call recording has signs of dialogue on topics such as scam amount, payment process and machine rental. However, no evidence has been revealed so far that the Dino Moriya should be directly convicted in the scam. But it is so clear from their appearance that the investigating agencies are taking the matter very seriously.
Eow’s strategy and further action
Eow is investigating the call records, bank transactions and other financial documents of all those involved in this scam. It is expected that more names will come under this investigation in the coming days. Sources close to Dino Moriya say that the actor is fully cooperating in the investigation and has denied any irregularity.
