A unique case of alleged love jihad has come to light in the capital Bhopal, in which a Hindu youth has accused a Muslim woman that she is pressurizing her to change religion. On the other hand, the woman has alleged that the young man has been in a relationship with her for four years and is now going to marry another woman who is not accepted. Both of them have reached the police station and have made complaint applications against each other, whose police are investigating.
Shekhar Silavat, a resident of Bhopal, has applied to the Ashoka Garden Police Station that a girl named Neelofar became Shreya and made a love affair with her and then got married. Now she is putting pressure on conversion. Along with the application, the young man handed over two Aadhaar cards of the girl to the police, in which her name is Neelofar and Shreya in the other. The young man wrote in his application that he works in a private company. She met Shreya, who lives in her colony, after which she became a friendship. Shreya told that she too works and lives alone in a rented house. Shreya made an ID in her name on Facebook and Instagram, through which both used to chat.
The young man alleged that Shreya started pressurizing her to marry her from 2021-22. When she said that her family is not ready for marriage, Shreya threatened that if she does not marry, she would implicate her in the rape case. Apart from this, Shreya used to send pictures of the blade to her and used to say that if she did not marry her, she would commit suicide by cutting the vein and would make Shekhar responsible in the suicide note. Due to these threats, Shreya forcibly married in Gayatri temple on 6 May. Later Shekhar came to know that Shreya’s real name is Neelofar and he is already married, with three children. When asked, Neelofar told that he has been divorced and the children are with her ex -husband. The young man alleged that Neelofar hid this and is now pressurizing him to leave Hinduism and adopt Islam and accept his three children too. Apart from this, on May 18, Neelofar kidnapped him with the help of some boys and took him under Bhanpur Bridge and assaulted him, along with adopting Islam and marriage.
At the same time, in this case, the girl reached the police station on Tuesday afternoon and alleged that Shekhar was already aware of her being Muslim. The woman told in her application that she was married to Muslim customs in 2012, due to which she has three children. Due to quarrels and assault with her husband, she started living alone in a rented house in Subhash Nagar area in 2020. Shekhar lived under this house, due to which his conversation started and both came into a relationship.
The woman alleged that Shekhar was aware of her being Muslim and married, as well as she knew about her three children. Shekhar had no objection to this. Physical relations were made several times between the two. Many times Shekhar lived in his room and used to go to office from there. When she became pregnant in August 2023, Shekhar gave her a contraceptive pill, causing an abortion.
Even after this, there was a physical relationship between the two several times. Whenever she talks about marriage, Shekhar would say that due to separation of both religions, her family will not be ready for marriage. When she did not have menstruation in April this year, sonography revealed that she was five weeks pregnant. The woman alleges that Shekhar took her to the hospital and after showing the doctor shot at the house, which led to her menstruation. Finally, on 6 May, both of them got married in the Gayatri temple, for which the girl changed her religion to Hindu name Shreya.
The woman alleges that Shekhar got engaged to another girl on May 8, two days after the wedding. When he protested, Shekhar said that he would keep both of them together. The woman says that she only wants to live with Shekhar. He also alleged that Shekhar is now trying to file a false case on him, while he was already aware of his being a Muslim.
On Monday, Shekhar had applied against the woman at Ashoka Garden police station, after which on Tuesday, the woman also applied against Shekhar in the police station. Hemant Srivastava, the station in -charge of Ashoka Garden, said that applications have been received from both sides and the matter is being investigated. Further action will be taken on the basis of the facts that come up during the investigation. At present, no FIR has been registered in the case.
