On May 17, 2025, at 19:05 pm, on platform number 01 of Bhopal railway station, when train number 22686 Chandigarh -Yashwantpur Sampark Kranti Express was arriving, during the time, a personnel of on board housekeeping staff (OBHS), Mr. Sugandhi Lal (age 35 years), were trying to board the train running to clean the train. Unfortunately, his foot slipped due to imbalance and he fell between the coach and the platform. He suffered serious injuries in his head, waist and leg and became unconscious.
The incident was immediately seen by Chief Ticket Inspector (CTI) Raghavdas on duty and immediately informed the Deputy Station Manager (Commerce) Anand Krishna Mishra. Mishra, while showing readiness, immediately called Dr. Noor Hasan from the emergency medical room located on the platform and directed to send an ambulance to the railway hospital.
Mishra himself arrived at the scene immediately and coordinated to safely take out the injured employee with the help of scavengers. Meanwhile, the Deputy Station Manager (Operations) and Control Room were informed, keeping the train stopped. First aid was provided by Dr. Noor Hasan and the injured in an ambulance reached within ten minutes were sent to the railway hospital by the stretcher.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Shri Saurabh Kataria said that the railway workers of Bhopal division, showing extreme awareness, sensitivity and efficiency to protect human life, ensured the protecting the life of a scavenger. A quick response of all concerned employees was appreciated.
