‘Fort ban’ ticket checking at Itarsi station: 428 passengers caught, fined 2.70 lakh rupees

Special ticket testing campaigns are being conducted by the Bhopal Mandal under the efficient guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Shri Devashish Tripathi and under the direction of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Shri Saurabh Kataria and to provide easy services to the authorized passengers.

In the same sequence, ‘Forting’ ticket checking campaign was organized on 15 May 2025 from 06:00 am to 02:00 pm at Itarsi station. The campaign was conducted in collaboration with 31 ticket checking staff under the leadership of Shri Arun Srivastava, Chief Ticket Inspector, Bhopal. During the campaign, all the routes leading outside the station premises were siege, so that no passenger could get out without investigation.

Under this checking campaign, tickets of passengers of a total of 33 trains were examined. In the investigation, 202 passengers were found traveling without tickets, from which ₹ 1,59,815/- were recovered. At the same time, 224 passengers were caught traveling with unfair tickets, from which ₹ 1,10,355/- was recovered. Apart from this, in 2 cases, a fine of ₹ 200/- was charged by passengers for carrying goods without booking or spreading dirt.
Thus, a total of 428 cases received railway revenue of ₹ 2,70,370/-.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mr. Saurabh Kataria said that this type of ‘Fortalization’ ticket inquiry campaign is an effective effort to bring awareness among passengers and to maintain discipline. He appealed to the passengers to take valid tickets before the journey. The waiting list is not permissible to travel on e-tickets and platform tickets. Passengers can easily book tickets through IRCTC website, mobile app or UTS app.
