A delegation of Naxal violence victims from Bastar Zone at Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today presented courtesy. The delegation included the Naxal violence victims of various areas of Bastar division including Sukma, Bijapur, Kanker, who have lost their loved ones due to Naxalite violence in the past years, have suffered physical tortures or have suffered the brunt of displacement. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma was also present on the occasion.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Shri Sai and appealed to take the ongoing anti -Naxal campaign to a decisive turn in the hills of Kurrigutta. He said that thousands of families of Bastar have been facing the ravages of Maoist terror for four decades, which has caused deep damage to the social, educational and economic foundation of the region. In recent years, effective action by security forces and the government’s policy of inclusive development has raised the hope of peace and development in Bastar again. The villagers described events like Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum as a symbol of this new awareness and faith.
