SUV and compact cars rocked, Maruti Suzuki sold 1.80 lakh cars in April


India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki performed strongly in April 2025. The total sales of the company have crossed 1.80 lakh units. The increase in demand for the SUV segment and export growth has further strengthened Maruti’s position.

7% increase in sales, SUVs and exports become gamechangers

April 2025 was very beneficial for Maruti Suzuki in the Indian car market. The company sold a total of 1,79,791 units this month, which is 7% higher than the previous year. This demonstration has been seen not only in the domestic market, but also in the export segment.

How was sales in the domestic market?

Maruti Suzuki made domestic sale of 1,42,053 units in April 2025. This includes both passenger vehicle and light commercial vehicle (LCV).

  • Domestic Passenger Vehicle (PV): 1,38,704 units
  • Super carry (lCV): 3,349 units
  • This figure of domestic sales reflects stability for the company and the confidence of customers.

Tremendous performance in SUV and MPV segment

  • This increased in April 2025: 59,022 units

Compact car segment strengthened

There has also been an increase in sales of compact cars such as Baleno, Swift, Desire, WagonR, Ignis and Celerio.

  • It is clear from these figures that now customers are shifting to SUVs and premium compact cars instead of small and mid-size sedan.

  • April 2025: 3,349 units

  • April 2024: 12,060 units
    April 2025: 11,438 units

The LCV segment has recorded slight growth and a slight decline in the eco van.

Great growth in OEM supply

OEM supply done by Maruti to other auto companies (especially Toyota) has also increased well.

  • April 2024: 5,481 units
  • April 2025: 9,827 units

This reflects a growth of about 79%, reaching 1,51,880 units of total domestic sales (including OEM).

Real wonders shown in export

  • Maruti Suzuki exported 27,911 units in April 2025, which was 22,160 units in April last year.
  • This shows an annual growth of 26%, which also shows Maruti’s grip in the global market.

What is the hope in the coming months?

Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio soon includes some new models, including updated Swift and the new generation Dzire. Along with this, the plan for entry in the electric segment is also in discussion.
