Washington

US President Donald Trump has abolished the tax exemption of Harvard University. Trump announced this in a social media post on Friday. His move can point to the government’s strict monitoring and policy changes on a prestigious institution like Harvard.

US President Donald Trump has indicated that his administration may stop the grant to Harvard University, which has not followed his instructions. ”And it seems that we are not going to give them any more grant, not Linda?” News agency Reuters cited Trump’s comment, in which he cited US Education Secretary Linda McMahon.

He said, “Giving grants depends on our discretion and they are not really behaving well. So it is very bad.”

The university had earlier rejected a list of demands from the Trump administration aimed at curbing diversity initiatives and fighting anti-Jewish spirit.

Trump described Harvard as a liberal mess

Earlier, Donald Trump had called Harvard an “anti -Jewish, extreme leftist institution”, as the university filed a case against his administration. Trump wrote on his Truth social platform, “This place is a liberal mess”, he also said that the university has “given admission to students from all over the world who want to break our country.”

Trump administration claims Harvard

The Trump administration has repeatedly targeted Harvard University for pro-Palestine demonstrations in the campus against the US ally Israel.

The university had earlier rejected the list of demands from the Trump administration, aimed at curbing diversity-related initiatives and fighting anti-Jewish spirit, and was described as an attack on free speech and educational freedom.
Action against Harvard

The Trump administration has taken several steps against the university. A formal review of about $ 9 billion was launched in the federal fund for Harvard, demanding university ban on diversity, equality and inclusion practices, and action was taken on some pro -Palestinian groups.

Additionally, the administration sought more information about the university’s foreign relations, its tax-free status and its ability to admit foreign students.

The US administration stopped the $ 2.3 billion in the federal fund for the university. Harvard then sued the Trump administration.

In addition to Harvard, Donald Trump threatened to cut federal funding to other educational institutions on issues such as pro -Palestine protests, DEI, climate initiatives and transgender rights.

Harvard is negotiating to sell $ 1 billion private equity funds

Reuters quoting a person familiar to the case reported that Harvard University’s organization is in talks to sell a private equity fund worth one billion dollars, as US President Donald Trump has stopped giving federal funds to the institution.

However, the report states that the sales process that began last year has no connection with the cut in funding by President Trump.
