Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that the government will not tolerate ‘jihad or love jihad’ on the state soil and criminals will not be spared. This statement of CM Yadav has come a few days after the case of rape and blackmail of 3 girls from a college in the capital Bhopal. The accused hid their identity.
CM Yadav said that there is no place for crime and criminals in Madhya Pradesh, known for good governance. He said, “Whoever does the crime will be punished, our government will not tolerate any kind of jihad or love jihad on the state soil. Whoever is found involved in such acts, will not be spared, whether it is inside the state or has run out of the state, Madhya Pradesh Police will catch him back.”
An official said that the police have arrested two accused and a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the racket of raping the girls by implicating them. The two accused have been arrested under the Poxo and Madhya Pradesh Religion Freedom Act, while another is absconding.
According to the police, Farhan Ali alias Faraj, an alumnus of one of the accused and alumni of private college, hidden his religious identity two years ago and befriended the minor girl. He allegedly raped her and started blackmailing her by making a video of her.
According to the police, two friends of Faraj similarly implicated two other girls in their trap. The incident came to light on 18 April when the first victim lodged a complaint with Bagh Sevenia police station.
Police said he alleged that the accused forced him to introduce his friends to his friends and he sexually abused him and blackmailed him. According to sources close to the investigators, the number of victims and accused may increase as the investigation proceeds.
