The National Lok Adalat will be held on 10 May 2025 (Saturday) in the state. In this, the case of power theft and irregularities will be resolved through agreement. It has been decided by the Electricity Distribution Company that for the disposal of pending cases in the court under Section 135, all domestic, all agriculture, non -domestic and up to 5 kW of non -domestic and up to 10 horse power loads will be given exemption in cases. Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar has appealed to the electrical consumers to contact the power office to compromise in the court to avoid unpleasant legal proceedings to resolve pending cases in courts under the Electricity Act 2003 Section 135.
At the pre-litigation level-30 percent will be given on the amount of interest charged at the rate of 16 percent per year as per each of the six Mahi compound rates at the rate of 30 days from the date of issuance of 30 percent on the payment of 30 percent on the payment of 30 percent on the amount of civil liability assessed by the company.
At the litigation level – After the payment of 20 percent on the amount of civil liability assessed by the company and the payment of the assessed amount, the assessment order will be given 100 percent on the rate of interest charged at the rate of 16 percent per year as per each six Mahi compounded rate after the end of the 30 -day period.
Exemption in Lok Adalat will be given under conditions
The applicant will have to pay a lump sum for the remaining civil liability and interest amount after the prescribed exemption.
The consumer/user will also have to make a full payment of the outstanding amount of electrical dues against any other combination/combinations in its name on the premises and other premises under consideration.
In order to get the benefit of exemption in the case of no legitimate connection in the name of the applicant, it will be mandatory to get a valid connection by the applicant and the outstanding amount (if any) against the dissected connections in the past.
Exemption in National Lok Adalat will be given only in the event of electricity theft/unauthorized use by the applicant for the first time. Consumers/users who have been exempted in earlier Lok Adalats/Courts in the cases of electrical theft/unauthorized use will not be eligible for exemption. No discounts will be given on the outstanding amount connected in general electricity bills. The exemption being given in the National Lok Adalat as above will be limited for cases up to ten lakh rupees. This exemption will be applicable only to make an agreement on 10 May 2025, the National “Lok Adalat”.
