Rohit Sharma, ahead of Kohli, achieved this big achievement in IPL


Mumbai Indians (Mi) opener Rohit Sharma on Sunday has become the highest number of ‘Player of the Match’ (POTM) award in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), leaving behind Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) veteran Virat Kohli.

Rohit achieved this feat during the 38th match of the ongoing 18th edition of the Cash-Rich League, where he scored an unbeaten innings of 76 off 45 balls at a tremendous strike rate of 168.89, including six sixes and four fours.

After playing this extraordinary innings against the five -time champion, the right -handed batsman won his 20th Player of the Match award in his 264th IPL match. On the other hand, Kohli has won 19 PTOM awards in his 260 matches so far. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) acting captain MS Dhoni and former IPL winner David Warner are two more players who have won the award 18-18 times and have registered their names in the list. The top two players in this list are former RCB players AB de Villiers (25) and Chris Gayle (22).

Rohit Sharma became the second highest run -scorer in the history of IPL as soon as he scored 76 runs and also surpassed Shikhar Dhawan. He has now scored 6,786 runs. Rohit has now scored 158 runs in 7 innings this season at an average of 26.33, with a strike rate of 154.90, with a half -century in his name.

Rohit, who represented Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians in his career, is his best score 109* in 264 IPL matches and 29.63 in 259 innings. He surpassed Shikhar, who scored 6,769 runs in 222 IPL matches with an average of 35.25, a strike rate of more than 127, two centuries and 51 half -century and the best score of 106*.
