On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, after the communal tension and stone pelting dispute in Colonelganj area of Guna district, the government has made a big administrative reshuffle. Under this, Guna SP Sanjeev Kumar Sinha has been removed with immediate effect. In his place, Ankit Soni, a fast-paced IPS officer of 2017 batch, has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police of Guna.
Mohan Yadav government issued order
This decision was taken late in the night under the order issued by the state government. SP Sanjeev Kumar Sinha has been posted at Police Headquarters (PHQ) Bhopal. At the same time, the new SP Ankit Soni was earlier working in the post of Deputy Commissioner (intelligence and security) in Indore Urban Police. His image is considered as a strict but sensitive and balanced administrative officer.
What is the whole matter?
The incident took place on April 12, when there was a dispute between two sides in front of a mosque during the procession being taken out in the Colonelganj area on Hanuman Jayanti. The situation deteriorated so much that reports of stone pelting also came to light. However, the then SP Sanjeev Kumar Sinha claimed in a conversation with the media that “CCTV footage has not confirmed stone pelting.”
Organizations raging with statement
Many Hindu organizations raised a sharp objection to this statement of SP and lodged a protest from social media to administration. Along with this, questions were also raised about the permission of the procession of Hanuman Jayanti by the administration.
Since then, the discussion of changes in administrative circles had started, which the government has now officially given.
Preparation for strictness regarding law and order in the district
In front of the new SP Ankit Soni, now the biggest challenge will be to establish peace, harmony and law and order in Guna district. Also, there is a need for a fair and effective policing by restoring confidence between different communities.
