Eight cheetahs from Botswana in South Africa will be brought to Madhya Pradesh in two phases. There are plans to bring four cheetahs from Botswana to India by May 2025. After this, four more cheetahs will be brought. Under the project cheetah, the cheetahs will now be transferred to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary in a phased manner.

According to the information, a review meeting of the Cheetah project was held in Bhopal on Friday in the presence of Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. NTCA officials said that so far more than Rs 112 crore has been spent on the Cheetah project across the country, out of which 67 percent of the expenditure has been spent on Cheetah rehabilitation in Madhya Pradesh.

Contract is also being agreed between India and Kenya. So far, more than Rs 112 crore has been spent on the cheetah project in the country. Under the project cheetah, now the cheetahs will be displaced in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary.

Bhupendra Yadav said that a task force of senior officials of forest, tourism, veterinary, panchayat and rural development, tribal work and transport should be made to oversee the rehabilitation projects of wildlife running in Madhya Pradesh. 400 cheetahs from 80 villages of Sheopur can contract to train friends.

Cheetahs will be brought to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary

Under the project cheetah, the cheetahs will be settled in a phased manner in the Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary, bordering Rajasthan. Therefore, the in -principle consent has been reached to establish an interstate cheetah conservation area between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Giving information about cheetahs at the Kuno National Park, forest officials said that there are 26 cheetahs, out of which 16 are in the open forest and 10 in rehabilitation centers (enclosures). The official said that 24 -hour tracking is done using a satellite collar ID to monitor the cheetahs.

Officials said that the female cheetah Jwala, Asha, Gamini and Veera have given birth to cubs. Not only this, the number of tourists in KNP has doubled in two years. According to officials, eight Namibian cheetahs, including five female and three males, were released into KNP on 17 September 2022. According to him, in February 2023, 12 more cheetahs were transferred from South Africa to KNP. Currently, KNP has 26 leopards, including 14 cubs born in India.

Gandhisagar’s color will change as soon as the cheetah steps

Meanwhile, there is news from Mandsaur that the Gandhisagar Sanctuary has now only one day to become the second house of cheetahs under the Cheetah Revolution Scheme in India. Two male leopards are being released here from Kuno National Park.

After the cheetah arrives here, the color of Gandhisagar and surrounding area will definitely change. The influx of tourists will also increase here and surely the economy of Gandhisagar, Rampura, Bhanpura will also change.

If you look at the sanctuary, the biodiversity here will also be prosperous. With the arrival of the leopard, the stars will also be rooted in it. In Gandhisagar Sanctuary, leopards will be kept in enclosures. After a few months, they will be released into the open forest. After this, the economic condition of Gandhisagar and adjoining urban areas will also change.
