Three Indians and two Chinese students studying in the US have filed a case against the US Home Safety Department and other immigration officials. The students allege that the authorities’ unilaterally and illegally canceled their F-1 student visa status, which affected thousands of international students or not hundreds.
The case has been filed by the American Civil Liberty Union in the District Court of New Hampshire. The petition stated that due to the end of F-1 status, students have not only come into the position of illegal migrants, but they are also facing detention, Deputy and also facing serious economic and educational crisis. Students say that now they cannot complete their degrees nor can they participate in the training program received after graduation.
Who are these students
Among the students who sued the Trump administration, Indian student Linkith Babu Gorela is. Their masters program was to be completed on 20 May. But due to cancellation of F-1 status, they can neither get a degree, nor become part of any training program. Similarly, Thanuj Kumar and Manikanta Pasula have only one semester left, but it seems impossible to get a degree without court intervention.
On the other hand, Chinese student Hangrui Zhang’s only source of income was the Research Assistant, which has now been stopped due to the status of the status. Students’ lawyers say that the US government did not give necessary notices or information before finishing the visa status, which is mandatory to law. The petition also stated that the students were following the rules, they made remarkable progress in studies, are not associated with any illegal employment and have not been found guilty in any serious crime.
