Indore
The construction work of the Indore-Khandwa highway has not been completed within the stipulated time. Due to the construction work, the drivers are facing a lot of problems. Many times there are long queues of vehicles on the highway.
For this reason, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has opened the first bridge for vehicles. Vehicles have been removed through the bridge for the last few days, so that the road around the bridge in front of Chameli Devi College can be repaired.
Currently underpass work is also in progress. According to officials, vehicles will also be able to get out of the Datoda bridge in May. Seven bridges and underpasses are being built with three tunnels on this 216 km long highway.
These bridges and underpasses
Chameli Devi is being built in the college, Umrikheda, Chokhi Dhani, Simrol, Bherughat, Baigram and Barwah. There will be underpass facility at these places to reach rural areas. All these bridges were to be prepared by January, but due to the slow pace of work, the scheduled deadline has been given six months more.
Now service lane will be ready
The work of Chameli Devi Bridge has been completed in the first week of April. Now the vehicles are being extracted from this bridge, so that the construction of the service lane can be started. The construction agency will start the work by closing the service lane in the coming days.
Along with this, the work of two underpasses being built under the bridge is in the final stages. Megha Engineering Project Manager Nageshwar Rao says that the construction of underpass and service lanes will be completed by the last week of May.
Animal corridors will be made for animals
Wildlife is also being taken care of in the construction of this highway along with vehicles. On the routes passing through the forests, ‘animal corridors’ will be built at five to six places, which will be for animals only.
With their help, wildlife will be able to easily go from one side to the other. The forest department has identified these places and their construction work is likely to start in the next few weeks.
Plan to start Simrol Bridge
After Chameli Devi College, vehicles will be able to pass through Datoda Bridge. People will have to wait a little by May. However, NHAI plans to start Simrol Bridge by June. Instructions have been given to the construction agency for this. – Sumesh Bone Project Director, NHAI
