Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited Pashupatinath Temple and attended the BIMSTEC conference

Shivraj Singh Chauhan also met Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The two leaders discussed the strong historical, cultural and strengthening of the relationship between the two countries. Shivraj Singh Chauhan expressed happiness that the BIMSTEC conference held in Nepal has emerged as an important milestone in global efforts towards food security, agricultural prosperity and farmers empowerment. Shivraj Singh has reached Nepal to participate in the multi-regional technical and economic cooperation (BIMSTEC) ministerial meeting (third BAMM) in Kathmandu.

‘Agriculture and Food Security’ is one of the main areas of BIMSTEC’s cooperation. This was the third meeting of BAMM, the highest decision -making organization that shaped regional agricultural cooperation. The first Bamm took place on 12 July 2019 in Myanmar, followed by the second Bamm in India on 10 November 2022. During the third BAMM, Agriculture Ministers discussed ways and means of gaining more speed in the Bimstec agricultural sector including fisheries and livestock cooperation.

Chauhan also held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Nepal. During the meeting, he congratulated his counterpart for successfully hosting the third BAMM. The two leaders signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation in agriculture. The ministers reviewed various bilateral initiatives in the field of agriculture and the progress made in developmental projects and discussed the opportunities for further cooperation.
