Islamabad
Amidst US President Donald Trump’s tariff attack and growing trade war from many countries including China, Pakistan has brought two hardcore enemies i.e. America and China on one platform. In fact, Pakistan has launched a summit in Islamabad on Tuesday with delegations from the United States, China and Saudi Arabia to invest in its mines and minerals, in which authorities expect billions of dollars investing. The purpose of this event is to bring the huge reserves of Pakistan’s copper, gold, lithium and other minerals to the world. Also, to promote investment opportunities in this long -neglected field.
The Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, who said in his address that “Pakistan is strategically in a position to emerge as a global mining superpower”. He said that the country has one of the largest unknown reserves in the world and is encouraging potential investors. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the country’s powerful army chief General Asim Munir also attended the event.
The largest store of copper and gold in Balochistan
Explain that Pakistan has a reserves of mineral wealth, including one of the world’s largest copper and gold reserves, a district in Balochistan, a turbulent southwest province, where there has been an increase in attacks on security forces and foreigners by Baloch separatists in recent years. Balochistan, rich in oil and minerals, is the largest but lowest population province in Pakistan. It is the center of the country’s ethnic Baloch minorities, whose members say they have to face discrimination and exploitation by the central government.
Pakistan says it has suppressed extremism in Balochistan, but the banned Balochistan Liberation Army has continued attacks since last month. The BLA is mostly targeted security forces and foreigners, especially Chinese citizens who are part of Beijing’s billions of dollars belt and road initiative. The BLA wants all Chinese-funded projects to be banned and the Chinese workers leave Pakistan.
What is Pakistan’s plan?
Now Pakistan has tried to run two bets through this mineral conference. The first is that he has tried to show that both America and China are uniform for him and they want to maintain sweetness in business and diplomatic relations with both countries. Secondly, he wants to give excavation of these minerals located in the turbulent Balochistan province to China, America or Saudi Arabia. Through this, he not only wants to promote foreign forces and foreign projects in Balochistan, but also wants to fill his treasure from the revenue received from the exploitation of minerals as it may be difficult for Pakistan to exploit mineral resources from its strong Balochistan province.
