There was a stir at the NMDC Steel Plant in Nagarnar when a fierce fire broke out after a gas leak in the Coke Oven section. The fire was so severe that the flames and smoke were clearly visible from 10 kilometers away, the precious batteries kept in the plant were gutted.
The fire brigade vehicles reached the spot from 18 km from the city and the fire could be controlled after about an hour of hard work. The plant has lost crores due to this accident, there will be a big loss due to delay in maintenance and production.
In this whole incident, it is a matter of relief that in time, the employees secured themselves, due to which there was no loss of life. As soon as the fire broke out, there was chaos in the entire plant, the employees were busy in saving their lives, while the officials kept pressurizing the situation as routine and pressurizing them to keep the employees at work.
It is a matter of concern that in the past too, there have been incidents like arson and hot metal spraying, in which the employees were seriously injured, neither the fire prevention arrangements were made, nor the employees are present near the hospital plant for treatment.
