India’s Digital Payment Revolution has touched another new milestone. In March 2025, there were transactions worth Rs 24.77 lakh crore through UPI, which is the largest figure so far.
UPI’s popularity is increasing continuously
According to the latest data from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the growth rate of UPI transactions remains tremendous. For the last 11 months, the total value of the transaction has been more than Rs 20 lakh crore every month.
Annual comparison: There has been a 25% increase this year as compared to March 2024.
Volume Growth: The number of transactions has increased by 36%.
Total transactions in March: 18.3 billion (ie 1830 crore transactions).
Quarterly performance is also fantastic
The total value of UPI transactions during January to March 2025 reached Rs 70.2 lakh crore, which is 24% more than the same period last year.
Daily average transaction: ₹ 79,903 crore, which was 1.9% higher than February.
Number of UPI transactions: 2.6% increase.
Average price per transaction: ₹ 1,353.6, which indicates that people are now doing small but more frequent transactions.
Will UPi continue to grow?
Given the success of UPI, it would not be wrong to say that India may soon set a new global benchmark in terms of digital payments. This figure can touch even more in the coming months with the continuous efforts of the government, NPCI and Fintech companies.
