Jabalpur
A new electricity rate has been fixed in Madhya Pradesh. The MP Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved an average increase of 3.46 percent in the current electricity rate. This rate will be applicable from April 2025. The Commission has issued an order to implement the new rate. The power company in its petition demanded an average of 7.52 percent of the electricity rate.

Consumer with smart meter discounts
The Commission has abolished the minimum charge, giving great relief to consumers and seasonal high pressure consumers. Apart from this, consumers will not have to pay metering charges. Consumers who have installed smart meters will be given a 20 percent discount in energy charge during the solar period.

Low-class domestic and general water supply and road settlement and HV-6 class consumers with more than 10 kW have been brought in time of day tariffs. The commission has upheld prepaid consumer exemption. The power company had demanded Rs 58,744 crore for the financial year 2025-26, against which the Commission has sanctioned Rs 57,732.6 crore.

Price will increase by Rs 24 on Rs 100
Domestic consumers have been increased to Rs 24 on bills up to 100 units, but these consumers have to pay only 100 rupees as before under the Atal Graha Jyoti Yojana. The increased amount will be paid by the state government as subsidy. The minimum rate billing (tariff minimum billing) of all the lower-pressure consumer category except non -aghareu consumers has already been terminated.
