The important scheme of the Women and Child Development Department, under Chief Minister Kanya Vivah, the mass wedding ceremony of 120 couples concluded on Friday in Dongria Kala. Pandaria MLA Mrs. Bhavna Bohra was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Also, many dignitaries and officials of the district blessed the newly married couples. On this occasion, MLA Bhavna Bohra blessed the newlyweds and said that the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana is an important initiative of the government, due to which the marriage of daughters of poor and needy families is being done with dignity and respect. This scheme is an important step towards empowerment of daughters.

In this mass wedding ceremony held at Swayambhu Jaleshwar Mahadev Dham at Dongaria, 120 couples from Kunda, Kukur and Pandaria region tied the knot. The marriage ceremony was duly performed with Vedic chanting. According to traditional customs, the newly married couples took fire as a witness and wished for a happy married life. It is noteworthy that 28 Baiga couples of the Kukadur project participated on the occasion. MLA Mrs. Bhavna Bohra and visitors were welcomed on this occasion along with Baiga instrument. On this occasion, a beautiful Chhattisgarhi songs were presented by the Lok Kala Manch “Dooj Ke Chanda” with Chhattisgarhi Sanskar songs.

Blessings and gifts given to the bride and groom

Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, every newly married couple was provided a assistance of Rs 50,000 by the government to start a household. Under this scheme, each couple was given Rs 35,000 as financial assistance in their bank accounts, while Rs 7,000 was spent for makeup and Rs 8,000 for marriage.

A wave of happiness in newly married couples

After the marriage was completed, happiness was clearly visible on the face of the newly married couples and their families. A newly married couple told,
“Our family’s financial condition was not good, but due to this scheme our marriage could be honored with respect. All the newly married couples thanked the government and all the organizers.
