A grand mass wedding ceremony was organized at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium located at the district headquarters under the Chief Minister Kanya Group Marriage Scheme. In this program, 192 couples tied the knot with traditional customs. Special enthusiasm was seen among the bride and groom and their families.

Before marriage, a procession was taken out with Baje-Gaje and on reaching the venue, all the grooms were given a grand welcome. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw attended the program as the chief guest along with his wife Meena Saw. He blessed all the newly married couples and presented checks and gifts worth Rs 35-35 thousand under the scheme.

Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, free treatment up to Rs 05 lakh is being provided, while the government of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has empowered the Kanya Vivah Yojana for poor families. He congratulated the district administration for the successful organization of the marriage of 192 couples and said that the government will continue to help the needy in the same way.

MLA Mohle made this appeal

MLA Punnulal Mohle, while wishing the newly married couples, said that under the scheme, a check of Rs 35-35 thousand and gifts of Rs 15,000 are being given to each couple. He appealed to the general public to make maximum benefit of government schemes and said that the government is running many welfare schemes for housing, health, education, drinking water, electricity and other basic needs.

Collector Rahul Dev said that for the first time such a large number of mass marriages have been organized in the district.
