New Delhi
Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus, who is looking for meeting with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, has received a special letter. Prime Minister Modi has written this letter on Bangladesh’s Independence Day. Bangladesh celebrates its Independence Day on 26 March. This day describes the historic moment in 1971 when Bangladesh separated from East Pakistan and became an independent country due to India’s military assistance.
PM Modi mentioned history in this letter and described the unwavering spirit of the 1971 Bangladesh liberation struggle as the foundation of the strong relations of India-Bangladesh, and subtle Bangladesh reminiscent of India’s role in its establishment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his letter has mentioned the Bangladesh Mukti Sangram at a time when efforts are being made to eradicate the legacy of Bang Bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in this neighboring country of India.
After the alleged revolution in Bangladesh on August 5 last year, there have been attacks on symbols and signs associated with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after the removal of Sheikh Hasina from power.
In a message shared by the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh, PM Modi wrote wishes to the people of Bangladesh, “This day is a proof of our shared history and sacrifice, which has laid the foundation of our bilateral partnership.”
Accepting the deep relations between the two countries, he further said, “The spirit of Bangladesh’s liberation struggle remains a guide to our relationship, which is flourishing in many areas and providing concrete benefits to our people. We are committed to further this share on the basis of mutual sensitivity to each other’s shared aspirations and concerns for peace, stability and prosperity.”
Significantly, during the 1971 Bangladesh liberation struggle, India provided military, diplomatic and humanitarian aid to the people of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). The Indian Army fought a war against the Pakistani Army, resulting in Pakistan’s defeat in Dhaka on 16 December 1971 and Bangladesh became an independent nation.
Let me tell you that the interim government of Bangladesh, led by Younus, is struggling to maintain the confidence of the public, while the discussion of the political return of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is gaining momentum.
Referring to the 1971 liberation struggle, PM Modi has given a message to Bangladesh that India’s role in the construction of Bangladesh is a reference point of relations between the two countries.
Significantly, after the departure of Sheikh Hasina’s power, the new regime of Bangladesh has taken a confrontation with India. But Bangladesh, who is dependent on India for many things, is now coming to his knees.
Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus has expressed his desire to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has sent his message to India in this regard. There are discussions that Yunus can meet Prime Minister Modi during the Bimstec summit to be held on April 3-4 in Bangkok.
But whether PM Modi will meet Mohammad Yunus or not, New Delhi has not given any response to this issue.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had earlier told a parliamentary committee that Bangladesh’s request is being considered.
Government sources said that Modi’s bilateral meetings will be announced later during the program.
Let us know that after the departure of Sheikh Hasina, the behavior of Dhaka on other bilateral issues including the furnace being done by India on the Bangladesh border, the security of Hindus in Bangladesh has not been in accordance with the expectations of India and India’s expectations. Therefore, India has been cautious to take relations forward with Bangladesh.
