The Indian stock market closed in a green mark on Thursday, ignoring the new tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump. Most of the market indices saw shopping. At the end of the trading, the Sensex gained 317.93 points or 0.41 percent to 77,606.43 and the Nifty was a strength of 105.10 points or 0.45 percent to 23,591.95.
US President Trump has announced a 25 percent tariff on all cars imported to the US. However, it did not see any significant impact on the market. There was also a purchase in the midcap index with largecap. The Nifty Midcap 100 index rose by 193.25 points or 0.37 per cent to 51,839.40 and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index with 183.10 points or 1.15 per cent to close at 16,119.85.
On sectoral basis, IT, PSU bank, financial services, FMCG, metal, realty, media, energy, private banks, infra and commodities were closed in green mark. The auto and pharma index are closed in red mark.
The Sensex pack was Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, NTPC, L&T, UltraTech Cement, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, Power Grid, Zomato, SBI, HDFC Bank, Titan and Tech Mahindra top gainers. Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel, HCL Tech, M&M, Tata Steel, HUL and Maruti Suzuki were the top loosers. According to experts, the market witnessed recovery after a slow start due to the monthly expiry and it increased 105.10 points to close at 23,591.95.
Aditya Gaggar, director of Progressive shares, said, “It seems that the correction face of the index has been completed, has filled the gap of fast and made piercing candlestick pattern. The level of obstruction for the market is at 23,800 and the breakout index above this level can be moved towards a psychological level of 24,000.
The market started rapidly. At around 9.26 am, the Sensex was trading at 112.96 points or 0.15 percent to 77,401.46, while the Nifty was 28.20 points or 0.12 percent to 23,515.05. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,240.55 crore on March 26, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth Rs 696.37 crore on the same day.
