Jabalpur
The new railway line between Jabalpur to Indore is not being made via Gadwara-Budani via Itarsi-Budani-Khategaon. This line will be connected near Mangalia village in the Indore-Dewas railway line. Bhopal will not be on this way.
After the construction of this new line, the time for the journey from Jabalpur to Indore will be reduced by two hours. On the question asked by Narmadapuram MP Darshan Singh Chaudhary on the progress of the new railway line, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave this information in the Lok Sabha on the progress of the new railway line.
The Railway Minister informed that the new railway line construction work between Budni to Indore is in the process. Both the last stations of the Gadarwara-Budni railway line of this project are connected by the railroad from East to Itarsi.
Eight year old project
There is not much difference in their distance from the new railway line between the two. Therefore, it is not rational to lay a new railway line between Gadarwara-Budni. Eight-year-old project-Jabalpur (Gadarwara)-Indore (Mangaliagaon) The new railway line was announced in the budget of the year 2016-17.
After that the matter was in cold storage. In the budget of 2021-22, the allocation of one thousand rupees was re-opened up the closed file of the project. The allocation to the project was also released in the subsequent budget. After increasing the allocation in the last two budgets, the construction process of the railway line in the Indore-Budni railway line of the project gained momentum.
Indore-Budani work continues
In the Lok Sabha, the Railway Minister said that the work of the new railway line (205 km) between Indore (Mangaliagaon) and Budni has been approved at a cost of Rs 3261.82 crore. 948.37 crore has been spent by March-2024. The project has been allocated Rs 1107.25 crore for the year 2024-25. Land acquisition is being processed for construction of railway line.
Four km difference
Itarsi is connected by Gadarwara to Budni rail route, which is 141 km. The distance of the proposed Gadwara-Budani railway line in the Indore new railway line project is 137 km. To reduce a distance of just four kilometers, laying a separate line now seems to be expensive for the railway.
