Israel
There is a tremendous boil on the streets of Israel. Thousands of people are protesting against the Netanyahu government with banners and flags in their hands. They clearly say that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is attacking democracy and pulling the war in Gaza for political gains. On Wednesday, a huge crowd of protesters gathered outside the official residence of Netanyahu in Jerusalem and the main roads of Tel Aviv. People were shouting slogans against the government for the release of the Israeli flags in their hands and the release of hostages. Due to this demonstration, many important roads of Israel had to be closed. The police arrested at least 12 protesters.
Why people raging on Netanyahu?
The demonstration began against Netanyahu’s efforts to remove the head of Israeli’s security agency Shin Bet, but the demonstration became further intensified due to the ongoing bombing and ceasefire in Gaza. About 600 people have died in the recent Israeli attacks on Gaza, causing anger against Netanyahu within the country. Israel has intensified air and ground attacks in Gaza, ignoring the appeal to maintain a ceasefire by foreign forces. The protesters say that the government is making war political weapons and is not serious about the release of 59 people held hostage in Gaza. It is believed that 24 of these hostages are still alive.
Netanyahu’s real purpose to save power?
The ‘Brothers in Arms’ movement chief Itan Hergel said, “The government is deliberately increasing the war to divert people’s attention from its failure. Netanyahu and his government have completely failed and now they are pushing the country in crisis to remain in power.” The protesters accused the Netanyahu government of weakening democratic values. The slogans echoing on the streets were said to be said, “Israel is not Turkish, Israel Iran.”
The protesters were indicating that Netanyahu was pushing the country towards the totalitarian rule. Security agency Shin Bet is currently investigating Netanyahu’s close associates. This case is being called ‘Cutrgate’. According to Israeli media reports, Netanyahu himself is caught in many cases of corruption and he may also be jailed if the allegations against them are proved.
