BCCI lifted the ban from the use of saliva on the ball in the upcoming stage of IPL, bowlers will benefit

New Delhi
The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) on Thursday lifted the ban from the use of saliva on the ball in the upcoming stage following the consent of most captains of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The decision was taken at a meeting of captains in Mumbai. A top BCCI official said, “The ban on saliva has been lifted. Most of the captains were in favor of this step. The International Cricket Council (ICC) banned the centuries-old practice of saliva to shine the ball as a precaution during the Kovid-19 epidemic and later in 2022 the world institution made the ban permanent.

The IPL also included the ICC ban in the terms of the game in the league after the Kovid-19 epidemic, but its guidelines are out of the scope of the game’s operational institution. In this way, this decision taken on Thursday has become the first major cricket tournament to resume the use of saliva after the IPL Covid-19 epidemic.

What will be its effect
In cricket, applying Sliva (spit) on the ball helps control the ball swing and reverse swing. Maintaining a glow on one side on the new ball affects the speed of air. So that the bowlers can swing him. By maintaining glow on one side of the old ball and leaving it more rough, the ball starts swinging in the opposite direction, which makes it difficult for the batsman to play.
