Finance Minister Deora said in his budget speech that a target has been set to construct 1 lakh kilometers of roads in the state in the next 5 years. Similarly, 500 rail over bridge and flyover will be built in the state in the next 5 years. This year, 3500 km of new roads and 70 bridges are targeted to be built. At the same time, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the target of construction of about 1 thousand kilometers of roads and renewal of about 5200 km of roads will be met in FY 2024-25.
8631 villages connected by perennial route
So far, 8631 villages under the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana have been connected by the perennial route by constructing roads of 19,472 km in length. However, some villages still do not have roads available to reach gram panchayats from main road. Therefore, the new scheme “Mukhyamantri Mazra-Tola Road Scheme” is being started to provide convenient route to the villagers. A provision of Rs 100 crore is proposed for this scheme in the year 2025-26. Apart from this, a new scheme is being launched ‘reconstruction scheme of damaged bridges’. A provision of Rs 100 crore is proposed for this scheme in the year 2025-26. At the same time, a provision of Rs 16,436 crore is proposed in the year 2025-26 for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges, which is 2024-25 to 34 percent more.
He said that the state infrastructure development with many projects like road network, expressway, metro, elevated corridor is moving rapidly. Construction work of elevated corridors in Bhopal, Dewas, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Satna and Indore is in progress. The construction of Ujjain-Javra 4 lane road will connect Ujjain, Indore and the surrounding areas, Delhi-Mumbai 8 lane corridor. At the same time, the land worshiped of Ujjain-Indore 6 lane road with an estimated cost of 1692 crores has been done.
116 new railway overbridge work in progress
Deora said that the construction work of railway overbridge (ROB) and railway underbridge (RUB) is being done on priority with the railway to prevent time and fuel wastage due to traffic disrupted at railway crossings. The work of constructing a total of 116 new railway overbridges costing Rs 4251 crore in the state is in progress.
