Now it has become easier for EPF members to update profiles. Actually, the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made a significant change in the rules for updating the profiles of the members (EPFO New Rule). Now EPF members can update their personal information without uploading any document. Previously, the approval of the employer was necessary to update the EPF profile, which led to average of 28 days.
At the same time, now about 7 crore EPF members are going to get relief from this change. Now EPF members can update information like their name, date of birth, gender, nationality, parents’ name, marital status, spouse name, joining and exit date without any documents. However, the condition will be that it will be mandatory for members to link their Aadhaar and PAN to their EPF account for any update.
According to an EPFO statement, ‘About 45% of the total 8 lakh requests received by EPFOs for improvement through employers in FY 2024-25 can be updated by the member on behalf of the member without approval in the employer’s verification or EPFO. But if the UAN was released before 1 October 2017, it would be necessary to get the approval of the appointment for any update in the profile.
