180 schools have been selected in Himachal Pradesh under PM Shri Yojana. Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary told Lok Sabha member Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj in Parliament that 56 primary, 5 secondary schools and 119 senior secondary schools have been selected in Himachal Pradesh under PM Shri Yojana. He informed that a provision has been made to strengthen the infrastructure facilities of 14,500 schools run by the Central Government, State Governments and Union States under the scheme. He informed that these schools have been provided to establish Model Schools under the National Education Policy-2020, which will provide high quality education to children in a happy environment.

Jayant Chaudhary informed that a total of Rs 27,360 crore will be spent under PM Shri Yojana, out of which the Central Government will pay a share of Rs 18,128 crore and the state governments of Rs 9,232 crore. Under the scheme, provision of smart class room, digital library and ICT facilities has been made and children have been provided better options for selection of courses. He informed that under the scheme, education is being encouraged to provide education in mother tongue so that the interruptions of the middle language can be eliminated among students and teachers.
