After the Champions Trophy 2025, India’s opener Shubman Gill blossomed, created history by winning the ICC Award

After the Champions Trophy 2025, India’s opener Shubman Gill has blossomed. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday awarded Gill with the Player of the Month Award. He was elected the best male player because of his great performance in the month of February. Gill won the award by beating Australia’s Steve Smith and New Zealand’s Glenn Philips. He has become the ICC Player of the Month for the third time and created history. Actually, Gill has become the Indian cricketer with the highest player of the month prize. He has equaled Pakistan batsman Babar Azam in the overall list. Babur has also won the Male Player of the Month Award three times so far.

Gill, 25, scored 406 runs in five ODIs last month at an average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19. He played a key role in winning India 3–0 winning 3–0 winning two half-centuries and a century in the three-match ODI series against England in February. He scored 87 runs in the first ODI played in Nagpur, 60 in the second match played in Cuttack and 112 runs in the third ODI in Ahmedabad. He made Player of the Series with Player of the Match by hitting 14 fours and three sixes in a 102 -ball innings in Ahmedabad. He also continued this magnificent rhythm in the Champions Trophy. Gill contributed 101 runs against Bangladesh in India’s first match in Dubai and 46 against Pakistan.

Let us know that Gill, the vice -captain and number one ODI batsman of India, scored a total of 188 runs in five matches at an average of 47.00 in the Champions Trophy. India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the final, taking 31 runs with Gill’s bat. Gill had earlier won the ICC Player of the Month Award in 2023 (January and September). India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has received this award twice so far. Gill said, “I am very happy to win the ICC Men Player of the Month Award for February. Do not give me anything more inspiration than doing well with the bat and winning the match for my country. ” At the same time, Australia all -rounder Alana King was elected the ICC Women’s Player of the Month of February 2025.
