Korba Municipal Corporation has 67 seats, out of which BJP is 45 and Congress 11 and Independents 11 councilors. A total of 68 votes were cast in the Chairman election. No one cast a vote, where shocking results came out. BJP rebel candidate Nutan Singh Thakur got 33 votes. At the same time, BJP Chairman Heetanand Aggarwal got 18 votes and Independent candidate Abdul Rahman got 16 votes. In this shocking result, the BJP’s party discipline was exposed.

Newly elected Chairman Nutan Thakur said that he had asked for a ticket from BJP. He wished to contest the chairman, but the party did not field him. Due to this, he fought independents and won. Labor Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan said that the BJP had fielded Hitendra Aggarwal for the Chairman, but BJP candidate Nutan Singh Thakur was also in the fray, where all the councilors united and won Nutan Singh Thakur.
